Question *Spoiler* Lame Rewards

I hope that there are a lot of "Place Holder" rewards currently.

For example: went to Dragon's Gullet with a group doing the "Ashes" quest and ended up clearing the map. In the heart of the map there is a collector that wants 9 Ribcages for, get this, a Bag!

Now I could see if it was a "Rune of Holding" to enlarge a bag but just a Bag??
Just seems wrong to me.

Things like this do NOT encourage exploring. When you can buy the item (or better) in a local Outpost, it just doesn't feel rewarding. Even 1% better makes it feel more worth while.

Am I just "whining" here or have others gotten this same sour taste after risking their lives?

There's a post somewhere regarding PVE rewards, and yeah, right now PVE rewards suck.

The collectors are usually not worth the trouble. I've never seen anything on them that was better then the stuff I already got.

Well I have only played 14 levels and I have to agree. Those "Collectors" are for the most part useless except in pre-searing for acquiring your first armor up-grade and pouch: 99% of their exchange items is definitely not worth the effort. At the very least, those exchange items should be worth more gold then the collective total of just selling off the individual item drops at merchants.

And it is annoying if I happen to have the items required; I get is a list of rewards with no stats and no way of knowing what kind of crap he'll give in exchange! Or are we supposed to commit to memory or take the effort to write down all the stats of each item from each collector we encounter? No we don't! The devs made it all crap so it is easy for us to remember...

I also find the same with the quest rewards: Other then the xp or the skill unlocks, the items are crap and are only worth a few gps at the merchant! I have never kept or used a quest reward item.

Bottom line, I just don't bother with collectors. Hopefully the Devs will write a more interesting role for them to play in the future.

The only collectors I am actively working for are the one in the desert for the good armor.

Desert collector has good armor, in fact I'm post ascension and are currently using them as I save up for the 75k armor. You can also get perfect damage wands and swords from collectors.

The collector staves in the desert are pretty good until you find your dream staff.

Lamest reward? The galrath quest in Lions arch. First of all, its an incredibly long and hard quest. I'd say 4x as long or hard as Althea's and you get...500 xp. 500xp for a shitlong quest that you need 7 lvls 20's to complete and a whole lot of luck to find the damn place in the first place! I Hope this gets nerfed because I think it's a bug that they put 500..Maybe they missed a 0.

If you have the items that a collector wants and you want to know what the stats are of the equipment the collector is offering just drop the items and reselect the collector. Since you dont have the items the collector will display the list showing item stats. Yes, I am a rocket scientist.

When you find a collector about 2 or so hours out into your exploration....it should have something damn uber. Fighting 20 mobs that spawn 10 more mobs after those die just to get to a collect that has crap....

They should allow us to do these collector's quest for unique looking sets of gear atleast! I don't care if its the same damn stats. A different look is always nice.

There was a collector somewhere *can't remember* in Ascalon that gave you a hammer that done 11-17 damage and +25 damage against Charr. Now that was definately worth the three stormy eyes you needed. Unfortunately, it was nerfed to +5. WHY, I don't know, you're pretty much almost done with the Charr by the time you get it and against other enemies, it's pretty mediocre.

max damage bow with +15% damage while enchanted outside of one of the southern shiverpeak towns. has BOTH slots open still, too.

so now mine is 15-28 damage
+15% while enchanted
+10 armor penetration
+4 armor vs phys
+20% damage (customized)

on a r/mo this is a damn nice bow. is it better than what i could find? no, but its no worse. 5 grawl necklaces for a bow with +15% damage while enchated that lets me slip 2 mods on it is worth it.

Heh, but the Galrath quest also gets you several k XP just getting there ^^

But I hated it soo bad for a measly 500 XP reward.

Indeed, it seems to me the farther you get in the game, the more and more you see quests giving 500xp. I skipped a lot of quests, just because 500xp is chump change when you need several thousand xp to see your bar move.

Actually, that will let you see some very basic item stats - not the full stats of the item.
